Are you ready for Constantine 2? Warner Bros. has confirmed that the Keanu Reeves-led sequel to the 2005 movie is still in the works, and we have all the details for you here.
If you’re a fan of the DC universe, then you know that Constantine is an important part of the DC canon. The character first appeared in Swamp Thing #37 back in 1985 and has been a beloved part of the DC universe ever since. And now, we finally have confirmation that the long-awaited Constantine 2 is still on its way.
Warner Bros. has confirmed that the sequel to 2005’s Constantine is still in the works, and will be released in September 2022 with Reeves, director Francis Lawrence, and producer Akiva Goldsman. Goldsman is also said to be writing the screenplay. There are no further details given regarding Constantine 2, but we do know that Keanu Reeves really wanted to return to the character, but he found Hollywood had no interest in the sequel when he tried many years ago.
Many people online and off were a bit worried about the fate of Constantine 2, as it wasn’t mentioned during James Gunn and Peter Safran’s breakdown of the future of DC Studios. But fear not, as the sequel is still on its way. This new chapter of DC includes Superman: Legacy, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Swamp Thing, The Authority, Creature Commandos, Paradise Lost, Waller, Lanterns, Booster Gold, and more.
In our Constantine review from 2005, we said, “An achievement of both story and technique, Constantine is one of the finest comic-based films ever made.” We can only hope that Constantine 2 lives up to the original’s legacy.
So, if you’re a fan of the DC universe, you won’t want to miss out on this exciting news. Keep your eyes peeled for more details on Constantine 2 as they become available.
