Lizzo Gives Emotional Grammys Speech, Credits Prince, Calls Beyoncé “artist of Our Lives” – Deadline

When it comes to the Grammys, Lizzo is the artist of our lives. At the 2021 Grammys, Lizzo took home the Record of the Year award for her song, “About Damn Time”. In her acceptance speech, she spoke about her inspirations, Prince and Beyoncé, and how they have impacted her life and music. In this blog post, we’ll explore Lizzo’s emotional speech and the powerful message she shared.

When Lizzo first took the stage, she was visibly shocked. She said that she was only enjoying the show alongside Adele and “rooting for our friends” when she was announced as the winner. She dedicated her award to Prince and said that when he passed away, she decided to dedicate her life to making positive music. At the time, feel-good music wasn’t mainstream and she felt very misunderstood. She stayed true to herself because she wanted to make the world a better place and now she is proud to be a part of the movement of songs about loving our bodies and feeling comfortable in our skin.

Lizzo then thanked her producers, Team Lizzo and her parents before turning her attention to Beyoncé. She said that she skipped school in the 5th grade to attend one of Beyoncé’s performances and that it changed her life. She said that Beyoncé made her feel like she could make people feel the same way with her music.

In the end, Lizzo was jumping up and down and screaming out, “I won a f***ing Grammy” while Beyoncé cheered her on. Lizzo’s speech was an emotional and powerful reminder that we are all capable of making the world a better place and that we should stay true to ourselves.
