The Pacific Northwest is proud of its own, and this week we have another reason to celebrate. Brandi Carlile, a Maple Valley native, has won three Grammy awards for her latest rock album, making her the recipient of nine Grammy awards in her career. Brandi Carlile is a singer-songwriter who has been making waves in the music industry for years. She won awards for Best Rock Song (“Broken Horses”), Best Americana Album (“In These Silent Days”) and Best Rock Performance (“Broken Horses”) at the 2023 Grammy Awards. Carlile was among the most nominated artists in 2023, with seven total nominations.
In 2019, Seattle’s Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP) honored Carlile with the Founders Award, their signature honor. MoPOP said in 2019 that “As a tireless champion for female and emerging artists, Carlile’s commitment to raising all voices exemplifies MoPOP’s mission to make creative expression a life-changing force by offering experiences that inspire and connect.”
